In this past lives blog, I invite you to step into a moment with me, and explore why spontaneous soul memories can change everything.

Do you remember your past lives? I do.

There are seemingly ordinary afternoons that bend time, and one of those unexpected, magical ones happened to me. There was no trumpet fanfare, angelic voices, dramatic cosmic sign, or sparks flying through the air. If anything, it was a day like any other.

At four years old, I enjoyed running up the ladder steps and sliding down the rickety slide in the garden with a whoop of delight. Then, as if wanting to squeeze every ounce out of the moment, I suddenly turned to bask in the warmth of the Malaysian sun.

And then it happened.

In that stillness, past lives revealed themselves.  My spiritual memory showed itself. Not just as visions, but as pure, heart-swelling connection. The kind that pins you to reality while stretching it in gloriously unexpected ways.

Remembering Past Lives

My soul felt on fire with the pure bliss of remembrance, as previous lives flipped like a video series in my mind. One life after another, they coursed through my being and every fibre of my soul rejoiced.  My whole being rejoiced at the connection with my past selves. It was the most magical moment of my life. My squeals of wonderment attracted the attention of my father, who took a snapshot of my first energetic connection with my past selves that reached out to me.

And this photograph was taken at that exact moment.

Ruthy as a child experiencing past-life memory in Malaysia.

It reminds me that my inner child is very much the psychic, inner seer. Or do I mean that my inner child is really my inner witch in first bloom? The first memory was of my birth in this life. I gazed down on the scene, pure consciousness floating above, observing my birth with a sense of calm expectancy, awaiting the moment that I would merge back into this world. There was such a sense of peace. It was beautiful.

And then the memories spanned from way back in time...

This past lives blog may make you ask yourself: Who am I? Perhaps you've been many people!

In this Past Lives Blog I Recall - Who am I?

The young Scandinavian man in his early twenties, who broke his neck in a motorcycle accident. I recalled the motorcycle catching on something in the road, the spinning, the impact with a tree, how his neck snapped, and then… He stood over his body taking in the scene before turning towards a tunnel of light and moving towards another dimension.

The teenage Victorian maid gazing out of her attic bedroom on the street below, hands sore from many chores, wondering what her future would be. She died of consumption within a few years.

The poor Irish woman consumed with pneumonia, distraught at the thought of leaving her young family behind. I remembered her utter sorrow and guilt, her prayers for her children… And then came release and she felt herself floating upwards and away.

A young Indian boy who lived by the sea, huddled in a dark hut, with a mind confused by fever in his final moments; alone because his father and brothers were out fishing.  And then suddenly there was calm and he was wrapped in peace.

And there were glimpses of many other past lives...

The thing that stuck in my mind were the snippets of my future in this life, and the knowledge that there are other lives to come. It seems I was born without the veil of forgetting what had gone before and what was to come.

Each new life is a chapter of your soul's journey.

Many others have experienced this too. You might recall the story of James Leininger, a toddler whose nightmares were shockingly specific. He repeated phrases like “Plane on fire! Little man can’t get out!” and gave such precise details that researchers later connected him to a WWII fighter pilot's life. You can read more about this incredible story here: The Story of James Leininger

I never questioned it or had any desire to probe into the past or future. There was only pure acceptance. Because this was the life I had specifically chosen, as I had chosen my previous lives.

If there's one thing I want you to understand from this past lives blog it's this:

There are lessons in this life to be learned, refined, and mastered.

The interesting thing is that I couldn’t remember what the actual lessons were that I had chosen. And I still don’t know exactly what they are. How strange is that? Have I learned all I need to know? I've absolutely no idea.

I knew that I had chosen my parents, the family I would be born into, and many of the experiences that I would undergo, the interests that I would pursue, the people I would meet and some that I would reconnect with from previous lives.

Shanti Devi, a young Indian girl born in 1926, began recalling a past life in Mathura. Her claims were so vivid and accurate—beyond her parents’ knowledge—that a commission, including one appointed by Mahatma Gandhi, verified many of her statements. Click here to discover more: The Story of Shanti Devi

Why was I born remembering? It’s a question that has puzzled me all my life.

Is it the reason I’ve had so many weird and wonderful psychic experiences? Why I sometimes know things will happen before they do? Is it why I can pick up information about people I’ve never met before? Or ask the angels for help and receive assistance immediately?

Or is my psychic ability just the knack of being able to plug into an unseen energetic matrix that’s hiding in plain sight of us all, simply because I know that it’s there? Is the knowing and openness all it takes?

ree

Whatever the reasons or answers, I’m glad I had the experience. Knowing there’s more to this world than meets the eye has helped me through testing times.

It’s proved to be the anchor that has kept me grounded in the here and now, because I understand that whatever life throws at you, the experiences are part of your spiritual development.

And rather than shun them or run from them, it’s best to learn the lessons and seek to grow in wisdom, rather than attract yet more situations, more people, more experiences, which will keep turning up and bringing you down. Until you appreciate the message contained within the mess you find yourself in, take on board the lesson, and move on to the next stage in your life.

Maybe love at first sight isn’t what we think it is. Maybe it’s recognizing a soul we loved in a past life and falling in love with them again. - Kamand Kojouri

With this past lives blog, I encourage you to think about your soul’s memories and why they exist. What purpose do they serve for you? What is it that you’ve come to Earth to learn?

Why Do These Memories Surface?

For some, past life remembrance comes through deep meditation or regression sessions. For me, it was sheer spontaneity, my inner child opening to something immense.

It seems these glimpses arrive when the soul is ready. They’re not fantasies; they feel textured, alive, and emotionally resonant.  And they are not easily forgotten.

Past Lives Blog - Studies That Mirror My Soul’s Whispers

The depth of this research doesn’t end there. Dr. Ian Stevenson, a pioneering psychiatrist at the University of Virginia, collected over three thousand cases of children worldwide who claimed past-life memories—some even had birthmarks aligning with wounds from those previous lives. But Stevenson remained cautious, emphasizing his findings were suggestive, not conclusive. Read more about the study here: Ian Stevenson and Cases of the Reincarnation Type

His work was carried on by colleagues like Jim B. Tucker, who has deepened that research, noting patterns in trauma, birthmarks, and the emotional strength of these memories. Here's an interesting read from the University of Virginia (School of Medicine) outlining his work: Children Who Report Memories of Past Lives - Division of Perceptual Studies

As far back as I can remember I have unconsciously referred to the experiences of a previous state of existence. - Walt Whitman

Signs You May Be Remembering a Past Life:

This kind of memory is unique, but some patterns often emerge:

  • Unexplained emotional surges such as joy, longing, or recognition that doesn’t tie to current life.

  • Vivid, historically rich dreams that leave an imprint.

  • Strong déjà vu but not just a flicker of imagination, more like memory buried deep in your DNA.

  • Instant bonds with strangers, as though you've met before.

  • Talents or fears that elude logical explanation.

These are echoes, not proofs - but they’re soulful clues worth noticing.

What I Felt and Learned

That moment in Malaysia wasn’t just a memory.  It was a deep soul nod, reminding me of expansive timelines and inner knowing. It grounded me, reminding me that life is not merely this lifetime. It coloured my world-view with a sense of continuity, spiritual presence, and the possibility that the soul chooses its path, its family, its lessons.

I never questioned or pushed it, I simply accepted. Maybe that’s the key. That openness – trusting what rose without needing to explain it - helped me through darker seasons, knowing I was anchored in a broader, loving narrative.

How to Gently Explore Your Own Past Life Memories

If your heart stirs and you want to discover your own soul continuity, here are soulful yet grounded ways to explore:

  • Meditation:

Sit quietly with the intention to invite connection. Let images and feelings surface without force.

  • Journaling:

Record dreams, déjà vu shafts, emotional surges, or moments that feel ‘too big’ to ignore, as patterns can emerge.

  • Regression Workshops:

With a trusted practitioner, proceed with care and soft curiosity.

  • Creative Expression:

Paint, write, dance, move. Let subconscious symbols emerge gently.

It’s about curiosity, not control. Let what wants to surface find its way.

Your Past Lives - Journaling Prompts

If this past lives blog has left you feeling curious, why not deepen your self-exploration with these journaling prompts:

  1. Have you ever paused and felt that something in you remembers more than this life?

  2. Do certain dreams or déjà vu moments refuse to fade?

  3. Who in your life feels instantly familiar beyond any known reason?

  4. Is there a fear or talent that feels timeless, unexplainable?

  5. How do you feel about the idea of multiple lifetimes? Curious, skeptical, both?

  6. If your soul could share one past-life memory, what might it show you - and why?

Final Thoughts

That moment in Malaysia - the childhood laughter, the sunlight, the sudden knowing - reminds me that awareness is far bigger than memory. It whispers that we are threads in a tapestry that stretches beyond this one thread of time. Whether you believe in reincarnation or soul symbolism, knowing that there’s more brings perspective and hope.

This past lives blog is as much an invitation as a story. Stay curious. Let your soul speak when it’s ready.

Q & A - About Past Lives

Q: Can dreams be past life memories?

A: Absolutely. Many dreams feel weighted, alive, and strangely real, like they carry their own gravity.

Q: Imagination or real memory?

A: Past-life memories tend to linger, feel as if they echo through your body and not just your mind.

Q: Is regression safe?

A: Yes when guided by a skilled and respectful facilitator. Old emotions may surface and trust matters.

Q: Do these memories prove reincarnation?

A: Some take them literally, others see them as symbolic. Whatever your belief, they are meaningful doorways into healing and self-discovery.

I hope that this past lives blog has sparked curiosity about what previous lives could mean for you.

Book Review: Children Who Remember Previous Lives by Dr Ian Stevenson

Have you ever read something that quietly rearranges the furniture in your mind? Children Who Remember Previous Lives by Dr Ian Stevenson is one of those rare books.

Dr Stevenson, a psychiatrist at the University of Virginia, dedicated decades of meticulous research to investigating children across the world who spoke — often with startling detail — about lives they claimed to have lived before. Far from being a sensationalist account, his work is calm, methodical, and surprisingly matter-of-fact. He looks at hundreds of documented cases, examining cultural, psychological, and even physical evidence (such as birthmarks corresponding to injuries described in past lives).

What makes this book so compelling is the balance: it’s both deeply human and academically rigorous. Stevenson doesn’t try to force conclusions on the reader — instead, he lays out the evidence and invites you to sit with it. Whether you’re a believer in reincarnation, a curious sceptic, or simply fascinated by the mysteries of consciousness, this book stretches your perception of what might be possible.

Reading it, I found myself reflecting on the hidden threads that may connect us across lifetimes, and how those threads might influence our fears, talents, or even relationships today. It’s not a light read, but it is an extraordinary one. And if you’re someone who likes their spirituality supported by real-world investigation, this is a gem.

Book Review: Memories of Heaven by Wayne Dyer & Dianna Hicks-Garnes

Some books feel like a gentle hug for the soul — Memories of Heaven is exactly that. Compiled by the late, much-loved Wayne Dyer alongside Dianna Hicks-Garnes, this book gathers extraordinary recollections from children who describe the time “before they came to Earth.”

These aren’t just sweet anecdotes. They’re often profound, sometimes funny, and occasionally breathtaking in their detail. Children speak of choosing their parents, recalling conversations with angels, and remembering the feeling of being surrounded by unconditional love before birth. What struck me is the innocence and clarity — there’s no agenda, no trying to impress, just children sharing what they know.

If you’ve ever wondered about the soul’s journey, life before life, or what little ones might still remember before the veil of forgetfulness drops, this book will touch you deeply. It’s a reminder that we’re more than our bodies, and that we carry a spark of the eternal with us into this life.

Reading it feels like being given a secret glimpse behind the curtain — one that reassures, uplifts, and stirs your own memories of the divine.

If your heart longs for reassurance that we are souls having a human experience, not the other way around, this book is a treasure.

Order your copy of Memories of Heaven by Wayne Dyer & Dianna Hicks-Garnes and prepare to see life through the wide-eyed wonder of a child.

📚📖Book Review:

If you’ve ever thought cleaning was just about shifting dirt, Clever Cleaning will make you think again. This beautiful book from the founders of Purdy & Figg is a love letter to natural cleaning. The kind that leaves your home sparkling, your senses uplifted, and your spirit soothed...

Now, I’ll admit it. I’m completely bonkers about Purdy & Figg products. Their blends aren’t just cleaning sprays, they’re mood-shifting little miracles. The new Calabrian Lemon smells like you’ve just wandered into a sun-warmed Italian lemon grove. Their Summer Lawn edition is like fresh-cut grass on a July morning.

And Lemon & Marjoram? Oh, that one's personal. It takes me right back to my nana Lillian’s kitchen where she’d make herb and lemon teacakes that melted in the mouth. Simply divine!

I still have a seasonal trio subscription so I can try their latest scent creations. Each one feels like a little present to my home.

What makes this book such a joy is how it blends practical, natural cleaning know-how with the sensory pleasure of essential oils. Cleaning, for me, isn’t just a chore. It’s a spiritual practice. When I spray those Purdy & Figg delights into the air, I’m not only clearing away smudges on a countertop, I’m clearing away stagnant energy.

In my own book, Tap Yourself Happy, I wrote about how essential oils can banish fusty odours and sweep out negative vibes.

Clever Cleaning carries that same ethos, making cleaning a mindful, uplifting ritual rather than a wearisome duty.

If you want to learn how to clean everything in your home without harsh chemicals while surrounding yourself with natural scents that make you smile, this book is a gem. And who knows, you might find yourself looking forward to cleaning days. I certainly do. ;-)

📖 Get Clever Cleaning here and discover the joy of natural cleaning. Honestly, it's a must-have for your home!
