How to See Aura Colours and What They Reveal

Updated: Jan 3, 2023

Do you love people watching? It's one of my favourite hobbies. I'm not sure if that's because I find people fascinating, or if I'm just plain beaky!

You can tell a lot about a person from their clothes, the way they speak, and their mannerisms, and it's interesting to guess what they're like as a person. But you can discover a lot more about someone from noticing their aura.

People watching - Aura seeing

Have you ever had the experience of being somewhere like an airport, where people sit for a while, some bored, some reading and some dozing off? And there you are watching and studying them, when suddenly, instead of focusing on them, you notice an aura around them?

Seeing the aura is a matter of taking your eyes slightly out of focus. If you've ever been able to see those holographic picture-in-a-picture things, then you shouldn't have any trouble seeing auras as you do exactly the same thing with your eyes.

The first time I was at a seminar and this topic came up, I had no luck with seeing the auras of the other folks in the seminar. That night, I went over to the bookstore and grabbed a bunch of the holograph picture books and sat there until I could relax my eyes and see them.

The next day, when I went back for the rest of the seminar, I didn't have any trouble seeing the auras of the spiritual class students.

Aura Exercise:

Have your training partner stand in front of a light-colored wall in a dimly lit room. Have your partner hold one finger in front of their face, about 6 inches out from their chin. Now focus your eyes on their finger, not their face. Have them remove their fingers but keep looking at the same spot. You'll have to relax your eyes a bit to do this.

Now, using that same relaxed vision, if you look at them, you should be able to see what looks like a line that runs all around them a couple of inches out from their body. The next layer out is even more faint and may have colors associated with it. The different meanings of the colors vary widely depending on who you're talking to.

My advice in this area is to open up your awareness and see for yourself which colors seem to be associated most often with which types of people and their behaviors.

Play with this a bit. Does their aura change when they think happy thoughts? Sad thoughts? Angry thoughts?

Some people can see auras instantly, and others have to work at it. Don't be put out if it takes a while. As you work with this, you'll gradually notice even more subtle layers of energy that surround people. You may also find that you can actually feel another person's aura, meaning you'll feel an energy or emotion, which tells you instantly how that person is likely to react to certain situations.

Auras can be bright, muted, light, dark, a single colour, or even a combination of colours. Even if there's a rainbow of colours, there's usually one that's much more dominant, brighter or wider than the others.

Aura colours give more information about a person than what's immediately noticeable when you first meet or see someone.

“A person’s energy and the aura they give off never lies. Trust in that.” Anonymous

To begin with, you'll find it easier to detect someone's aura if they have a white or light background behind them. Concentrate on a space just in front, above or to the side of them, and in a short while, you'll notice a shimmering field around them. The more you concentrate, the more you'll notice the colour of the aura.

Colours are an important aspect of aura reading.

Below is a brief description of the meanings different colors hold. When reading auras, be sure to always trust your intuition.

Black:

This is a confusing color. There is nothing wrong with black in one's aura. Black means one is shielding oneself from outside energies. This can also mean feeling unbalanced; one is hiding something or keeping secrets. A black ring usually shows a need for healing, often because of past trauma, present problems or worries about health.

Blue:

This comes in different shades. Gifted people have shades of blue in their aura. Intuitive people will show pale blue coloration within the purple bursting out like rays of sunshine, emanating from the heart outwards. A deeper blue can indicate loneliness. A deep navy-blue shows devotion, honesty and good judgment, whereas muddier shades of blue hints at a domineering person or a tendency towards depression. Usually, blue indicates someone who keeps their cool. They don't let their words or expressions belie their thoughts or emotions.

Brown:

This color can signify growth in a person. Seen around the head and with other colors emanating in combination, it specifies a person who is developing mentally, intuitively, and organizing within. It also shows someone who is becoming more grounded. Brown by itself implies a lack of energy, or one who has become 'stagnant' or stuck-in-the-mud.

Gold:

Reveals lots of spiritual energy, being in tune with oneself. These people have a natural affinity with spiritual laws, and are often maestro manifesters, able to use the law of attraction to their advantage. These are the healers and spiritual teachers. Muddy gold means one has not really come to terms with one's higher levels.

Yellow:

Usually seen around a thinker, an analytical person. Could show a "balanced" person. Intelligent people show this color around their heads. Is a joyful person who has a great sense of humour and likes to make others laugh. Yet they're very sharp thinkers who don't miss a trick, have excellent memories and recall.

Green:

Sympathetic to others, dependable and possess healing abilities. Muddier shade could suggest jealousy- like "green with envy". They go out of their way to help others and are often put upon and taken advantage of until they learn to develop healthy boundaries. Compassionate and caring towards others, their presence can be healing to others. Make good listeners.

Grey:

Can show intuition and creativity. Silvery grey shows femininity, while darker grey can mean secretiveness or physical imbalance. Dark grey hints at a blockage in the energy system.

Orange:

Bright orange means one is growing emotionally and paranormally. Orange also signifies a sunny disposition, outgoing and extrovert, the 'life of the party' individual. They are sensitive to the needs of others and like to stay in touch with their friends. A dull shade means a person is unsure how to accept this growth. Muddy orange shows in a person with too much pride, often gets 'huffy' if others are too busy to see them.

Pink:

The color of love and honesty. It also depicts the quieter side of a creative person. Sweet, charming, with a child-like innocence. Dark pink may hint at immaturity or changes with one's love life. Dull pink, however, watch out as someone is not telling the entire truth. Dark pink also shows a childish personality.

Purple:

The color of intuition, a deeper purple hue, shows a strong- willed and passionate person. Strong psychic power and can pick up the energy of people and places. Telepathic and clairvoyant, clairaudient and/or clairsentient. A natural spiritual medium who often has psychic experiences, usually from a young age. Likely to recall previous lives. Lifelong student of esoteric knowledge.

Red:

A color of love or hate, potent emotions and a lot of energy. Passionate. A go-getter who likes to get stuff done. An achiever with a strong will. An intense red color, however, may show a person who is ready to fly off the handle. Easy to anger, harder to calm down.

“Auras are like a signature, each as individual as the person they surround.” Gina Allan

Practice makes perfect they say. Take time to practice the art of aura reading and journal what you see and how it corresponds with what you know of the person. This will give you a record of your findings and show how your intuition is getting stronger each time.

I'd love to hear the results of your aura reading experiments, so please drop me a line and let me know how you get on with this.
