At the start of the year, it's a great idea to think about what quality you need to expand within yourself, in order to create a life you love.
For 2022, my word of the year was Completion.
The reason was that in 2021, I had a habit of starting a project, blog, book, decorating, or whatever, and not seeing it through to the final finished product.
Some of that was due to picking projects that weren't quite aligned with my values and goals, but also because my thinking had become scattered and I found it difficult to focus at times. Procrastination was my middle name!
I had to give my head a wobble, kick my own backside, and have a word with myself. And completion was the word!
So, knowing that I had fallen short in the 'get the chuffing thing done' department, I wrote out the word Completion and sellotaped it to the top of my laptop screen. And there it sat, staring at me every single time I began to work. Reminding me to get shit done fully, even if I wasn't sure it was completely right. Because, let's face it, done and complete - even if imperfect - is a lot better than perfectly undone!
It's such a simple idea and yet it worked fantastically!
My Word of the Year for 2023 is Consistency.
Yup,I admit it, I fell down on that one in 2022. With a hard thump.
Consistency is what gets results.
You want to learn to paint, become fluent in a language, write a book, achieve a qualification, create a side hustle, lose weight, get fitter, learn a new skill, completely declutter your belongings and create a beautiful and organised home?
Consistent action is what will give you the results you desire. One day at a time, bit by bit, keeping at it - will all add up to creating outcome you want.
